North Star has severely violated the law. First of all, they gave your information to someone else. This is illegal. You need a statement from your mother. Secondly, no one is responsible for your debt except for you. Specifically, non of your family members are responsible for your debt. If you die, your spouse is not even responsible for your debt. Here is what you do. Tell North Star that they are required in the first instance to provide you with a copy of the original signed agreements to the loans mentioned, together with the deed(s) or notice(s) of assignment which authorizes them to contact you. They are legally supposed to provide this information to you within a reasonable time frame. 30-60 days. If they do not, they can no longer contact you. If they do, you can sue them. Secondly, if they do provide that information, you can simply send another certified copy stating that they need to cease and desist with contacting you. If they do contact you after that, you can sue them. Then, send a letter to your states Attorney General outlining how they have harrassed your parents.
